Business leaders thank Larry Walsh for leading Will County during period of economic growth

Author: Editor

Business continues to boom in Will County, and on Friday civic leaders thanked an elected official who has led the county for the past 15 years.

The Will County Center for Economic Development presented its Frank Turk Award to Will County Executive Larry Walsh during an annual meeting attended by about 200 business and municipal officials at the Clarion Hotel in Joliet.

Walsh, 71, will not seek re-election to a post he has held since 2004. His nearly 50-year career of public service has included time as a state senator, county board member, township supervisor and school board member.

Democratic Will County Board member resigns

Author: Editor

Will County Board member Laurie Summers resigned from her seat.

Bill Thoman said that Summers, the chairman of the Will County Democratic Central Committee, recently took a job in the Will County Coroner’s Office. If Pat O’Neil, the current coroner, decides not to run for reelection in 2020, Thoman said, Summers might run in his place.

“They’re being mutually supportive,” Thoman said.
