Will County area candidates earn endorsement from abortion rights PAC

A political action committee focused on advocating for abortion rights in Illinois announced a long list of endorsements in state and local races, including for several Will County area races.

Personal PAC's Board of Directors released its list of endorsed candidates ahead of the Illinois primary election yesterday.

The group said they're working to elect candidates who will keep Illinois a "safe haven for choice in the Midwest." All endorsed candidates were Democrats.

Our Revolution endorses three Will County area candidates

The progressive political group Our Revolution endorsed multiple Illinois candidates over the weekend, including three running in Will County.

The group announced its endorsement of Congressional candidates Marie Newman and Rachel Ventura and Illinois House candidate Dagmara “Dee” Avelar, according to a news release.

Newman, a La Grange businesswoman, is challenging U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski, D-Western Springs, in the 3rd Congressional District. Ventura, a Will County Board member, is challenging U.S. Rep. Bill Foster, D-Naperville, in the 11th District.

Congressman Foster named chair of science oversight subcommittee

Last week, U.S. Rep. Bill Foster was named the chair of the Science, Space and Technology Committee's Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight.

The subcommittee is empowered with investigative and oversight authority over all matters concerning non-defense federal research, according to a news release.

Foster, D-Naperville, touted his 24 years of experience working as a high-energy physicist and particle accelerator designer at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. He said he was proud to lead the subcommittee responsible for defending "scientific integrity."

Crest Hill, Lockport and Romeoville mayors endorse Lipinski for reelection

U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski touted a long list of endorsements from mayors within the 3rd Congressional District, including the mayors of Crest Hill, Lockport and Romeoville.

The congressman said in a news release that these endorsements build on his reputation as a problem-solver who works with the communities in his district.

Lipinski, D-Western Springs, is running for a ninth term. He faces multiple challengers in the Democratic primary in March.

The lead Democrat and Republican on the House Oversight Committee meted out a rare bipartisan rebuke of former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn on Tuesday after seeing private information that confirmed the former administration official failed to disclose foreign income from Russia and Turkey.

The public criticism by the senior Republican on the House’s chief investigative panel is unusual and presents a dilemma for the White House, which was accused of failing to provide everything the committee asked for — an assertion White House press secretary Sean Spicer disputed.
